Québec, années 1960. Agathe, une enfant asthmatique, vit avec sa mère Thérèse, une artiste mélancolique. La nuit, la sirène récurrente d’un train alimente sa vision d’un monde parallèle où transitent des voyageurs du futur. À l’adolescence, Agathe rencontre Frank, un jeune écrivain, qui lui permettra de franchir la frontière entre le présent et l’avenir.
