Un dimanche maussade dans le petit appartement où Emma, 14 ans, vit avec sa mère Hélène. Pleine de rejet et de rancœur envers Hélène, Emma projette l’image de la maman idéale sur son autre mère, qui vit loin et qu’elle voit très peu. Mais une dispute avec Hélène va forcer Emma à remettre en question cette dualité rassurante… Et pousser Hélène face à ses propres contradictions. Elles se retrouvent projetées dans une mise à nu de sentiments dont elles n’ont pas (ou plus) l’habitude, et où elles se mettent maladroitement à chercher un chemin commun.
