Un mois après qu’une faille a déchiré l'univers, l’équipe de Planet Express doit trouver un moyen d’y remédier. Mais c'est alors qu'ils découvrent que cette faille n’est autre qu’un passage vers un autre univers où vit une créature gigantesque et tentaculaire du nom de Yivo. Rapidement, la créature envahit la Terre et prend le contrôle de ses habitants avant de faire de Fry, le messie d’une nouvelle religion, dans le but de guider les humains vers un pseudo-paradis situé dans un autre univers, laissant les robots pour seuls héritiers de la Terre.
