En l'an 2021, à Moon City, première colonie terrestre sur la Lune. A bord de leur astronef privé, l'aventurier Bill Kemp et son ami Korminski débarquent au centre spatial, bien décidés à mettre la main sur un petit astéroïde, composé de saphir d'une grande pureté, qui vient de s'écraser sur le satellite. Bill y fait la rencontre de la belle Clémentine, qui lui fait part de son inquiétude à propos de la disparition de son frère. Il apprend que le disparu travaillait dans la mine à proximité de laquelle l'astéroïde s'est abattu. Bill propose de l'emmener sur place et de l'aider à retrouver son frère, ignorant encore les nombreux dangers qui l'attendent...
