Adaptación televisiva del cuento de Pinocho. En el siglo XIX, en un pueblo toscano, un pobre carpintero llamado Geppetto construye un títere al que llama Pinocho, el cual, sorprendentemente empieza a moverse y hablar por su cuenta. Una noche, un hada se aparece a Pinocho y le promete que algún día podrá ser un niño de carne y hueso. Para su estreno en cines se redujo el montaje a 134 minutos.
